A review of Rackhams by Anonymous written on Tuesday 13th of October 2015
This is a store with potential to provide good shopping for locals and visitors, due to limited department stores in Shrewsbury. However it appears to have no desire to attract shoppers and worse still to actually to retain existing customers.
The later is typified by the closure of a top floor cafe which has been replaced with a completely uninspiring and character devoid area now housing kitchen utensils.
The cafe which was somewhat of old fashioned appearance may not have covered the style wishes of all ages of the population but it had charm and in my frequent experience was always busy.
Therefore bringing footfall to an extremity of the shop and I suspect encouraging product sales as people walked to or from the cafe.
Elsewhere on all four floors the customer service is hit and miss. There are no doubt some very friendly staff who are customer orientated but there are far more stand offish employees who show every indication that they want to ignore you.
Bring back the cafe which I should add was staffed by friendly caring people..
